Susan and Courtenay are a dynamic author-illustrator team with 17+ years’ experience working with students in the classroom. Their assemblies explore the collaborative and technological elements of creating a book as they take the students on the exciting journey of how they made our dream book a published reality.

Their fun, interactive presentations get the kids thinking about where ideas originate and how you can grow those ideas into something bigger. Emphasizing the importance of research, revision and collaboration, they take students through the steps of getting a book published, and how that path can be both traditional and untraditional, i.e. digital books and self-publishing.

They also offer workshops and author/illustrator visits focused on emotions and coping skills where they read their books and lead students through one of several art activities created for each book. Or they can design an activity to fit the needs of your students. If your school or community has experienced a traumatic event, they would like to help.

Susan and Courtenay also love to share their own story through informative workshops for teens and adults interested in learning more about the process of creating and publishing children’s books. Learn why their motto is “Shoot for the moon --you might land on the Space Station”!

Please contact them for information on scheduling and fees.

“Susan and Courtenay had a deep understanding of the school partnership program and tailored their presentations and intuitively adapted it to each student group. They were flexible and gracious, even participating in school spirit week attire.”   – Julia Weinstein, Rockwern Academy Librarian
